"Ana Archive 8mm Film Appreciation Event Vol. 2: Seeing People, Life, and Setagaya Through the Holes," featuring 8mm film documenting Setagaya's streetscapes and lifestyles, will be held on the 4th floor of Seikatsu Kobo in Sangenjaya, Tokyo, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM on October 30th.
"Ana Archive" is an archive project focusing on the "holes" in memory. In addition to actual footage, it also collects stories and events not recorded on film, such as memories and recollections of events from that time that were triggered by the footage.
This year, we called for donations of 8mm film from April to August, and were able to collect approximately 150 reels from 16 people, mainly from within Setagaya Ward. This time, some of the reels will be digitized and used for an appreciation event. A variety of footage documenting the streetscapes and lifestyles of the time will be screened, including Inokashira Park Zoo in the 1950s, the water chute at Mukogaoka Yuen Park in 1961, and Setsubun at Setagaya Kannon Temple. Additionally, staff from planning and production company remo will act as facilitators on the day, listening to the film providers and visitors share their memories and imaginations from the time of the film viewing. This is an event where you can enjoy a warm moment as one person's memory becomes another person's.
