"Seasonal Cohabit ~Summer & Autumn~", the second installment of the "Seasonal Cohabit" series, an art collaboration project between Isetan Men's and CADAN (Japan Contemporary Art Dealers Association), will begin on July 21st.
The origin of the word "Seasonal Cohabit" for this collaboration project is meant to convey the idea of "different people living together in peace," and it is a coined word that evokes a society that respects sustainable diversity.
This series features contemporary art that reflects the current era, and a variety of contemporary art will appear on the floors of the building over the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Special installations tailored to the floor themes will be displayed in SI (Store Identity), a cubic exhibition space set up on four floors of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building.

Katsuhiro Saiki "My Inside Is Your Outside, Your Outside Is My Inside #2,3" (2017) Plastic bottle / 395 x 83 x 83 mm
Nori Hattori and Kenya Sato brought ideas from their respective perspectives, engaged in repeated dialogue, and made new discoveries in the process of creating handmade furniture. Playing freely. A work that is both architecture and painting. They participated in this project with the aim of creating such things. Katsuhiro Saiki is participating with a conceptual work in which two plastic bottles share each other's inside and outside.

Looking out the window of the apartment where I lived in Berlin, I noticed that the building across the street had the same window frames. The uniformity of the buildings and window shapes, along with the diversity of the people who live within, could be glimpsed through the curtainless window. This work depicts the everyday lives of these people by changing the light coming in through the window into red, blue, and green colors, likening it to postcards stuck in a postcard stand placed in front of a souvenir shop in Berlin. The constantly rotating light and the many colors mix together to create a work that expresses the diverse people who live and breathe life in the same way.
[4th Floor] Hamada Yasuyuki (Gallery: 4649)
Born in 1988. Graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School in 2018, and has been a member of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna since 2021. His major exhibitions include "Neighbors" (Mumei/Tokyo, 2019), "NADA Miami Project booth" (NADA Miami/Florida, 2018 and 2019), and "Gemutlich Loch,Tschuss" (Justice/Vienna, 2018). Hamada creates original objects that imitate mass-produced goods using DIY technologies such as 3D printing and single-board microcomputers, and through these he creates spaces that evoke the sense of incongruity felt when the viewer confronts the object, as well as spaces that direct the viewer's imagination toward something absent from the situation.

These dollhouses are miniatures made from 3D printed materials (or laser-cut wood) based on the artist's CAD data drawings, assembled like a plastic model. The wheels and handles indicate that these figures are not simply figurines but can actually be used as carry cases or dollhouses. The fictional, nonexistent Gothic architecture that serves as the artist's motif symbolizes his anti-rationalism.
[6th Floor] Nishi Taishi (Gallery: FINCH ARTS)
Born in 1983. Focusing on themes of anonymity and the boundary between fiction and reality, Nishi Taishi creates paintings that evolved from charcoal drawings, as well as ceramic works made from black clay and three-dimensional works made by smearing mud on clothing and firing them. His major exhibitions include the "14th Shiseido Art Egg Nishi Taishi Exhibition" (Shiseido Gallery, Tokyo, 2020), "Looking at the Dark Side of the Moon" (Finch Arts, Kyoto, 2020), and the Grand Prix at the "Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2015" (Maru Building Marucube, Tokyo, 2015).

A weed whose name I don't know was blooming with beautifully colored petals along the road. I found a similar flower in a distant meadow. Imagine various events happening in the world appearing in the form of fairies.
