The collaborative Fall/Winter 2021 Haute Couture collection between Jean Paul Gaultier and sacai has been unveiled. Abe Chitose reimagined iconic pieces from the Maison, resulting in 31 looks that fuse Gaultier's worldview with sacai's codes.

The collection was created based on a teamwork between Abe Chitose and Jean Paul Gaultier, as well as footwear by Pierre Hardy and second-skin print graphics by legendary Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Dr. Woo. Avant-garde cuts abound. Everything from Madonna's tennis-striped corsets to MA1 bomber jackets in khaki nylon twill lined in tangerine, to French-chic trench coats, are transformed into dresses, cone-bra corsets, skirts, and capes. Mesh, a longtime favorite of the house, is patched together in various ways, and oversized waists create couture accordion-like pleats. Petticoats and underskirts sewn together from vintage jeans are paired with replica jackets from the 1994 fashion show. To complement these pieces, Chitose Abe tapped the talented Pierre Hardy, her friend and longtime collaborator, to design the shoes for the show. Reflecting the collection's theme, overstitched boots and thigh-high boots featured in leather, mesh, denim, and jacquard, all with wedge heels.

Featured throughout the collection were tattoo designs by Dr. Woo, a Los Angeles-based tattoo artist and longtime sacai collaborator.

The ultimate homage to the designer, the multi-fabric striped sweater fades silently, transforming from sheer satin to sheer tulle.
Exclusive Nike sneakers were also featured

And finally, the most important look: the overalls worn by Jean Paul Gaultier in his final couture show, transformed into an evening gown and voluminous trouser ensemble, bringing the story back to where it began.
