Cross Company acquires Can, aiming for business synergy effects

Cross Company, Inc. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City), which operates brands such as "earth music & ecology," acquired all shares of Can Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Suginami-ku, Tokyo), which handles everything from planning to sales of women's brands, on December 25, 2012. An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders and a board of directors meeting were held on January 9, 2012, and officers were elected. Can Co., Ltd., which operates stores such as "Samantha Moss Moss (SM2)" and "Te Chichi" in major train station and fashion malls across the country, has a similar customer base, and the two companies expect to achieve business synergies. While further expanding their business areas, the two companies also anticipate advantages in product procurement and complementary marketing, aiming to enhance the brand value of both companies. Can Co., Ltd., including its three subsidiaries, recorded sales of approximately 17.5 billion yen in February last year. Sales for February 2013 are expected to be approximately 19.3 billion yen.

Cross Company operates brands such as "SEVEN DAYS=SUNDAY" with earth music & ecology as its core business. It also owns the New York collection brand "THOM BROWNE." In 2011, it established a subsidiary in Shanghai, China, and last year it was in the process of opening 11 stores overseas.
