Stella McCartney's Spring/Summer 2014 eyewear collection features modern, feminine designs with a vintage twist, including sunglasses and eyeglasses. The collection features four oversized sunglasses and three eyeglasses crafted from acetate, metal, or a combination of both. They come in elegant colors, including gray and pink tortoiseshell. The sunglasses are available in four styles: the bold SM4053, the striking butterfly-shaped SM4049, the rounded SM4050, and the thick, rounded bioacetate front SM4051. All sunglasses are available with prescription lenses. The eyeglasses are available in three styles: the SM2014, which combines vintage style with contemporary elements; the SM2015, which features a rectangular front for comfortable wear over long periods of time; and the SM2016, which features a thick front and square shape.
The collection also uses plastics made from natural materials with sustainability in mind. The bioplastic is made from 54% castor oil, which grows in the poor soil of semi-arid regions, requires little water or pesticides, and emits little carbon dioxide. The collection also uses acetate plastic, which is made from cellulose and contains 54% natural ingredients. Cellulose is renewable and biodegradable, making it beneficial to the global environment.
