Sanyo Shokai unveiled the COTOO 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection at its Roppongi building in Tokyo on May 23rd. The show, held twice a year with the aim of expanding the brand's fan base, attracted approximately 200 attendees, primarily customers. Based on the concept of "modern couture," the brand offers clothing made with high-quality materials and featuring silhouettes that envelop Japanese women. This time, under the theme of "Savoir Faire," the collection presented modern couture with an even greater emphasis on handwork and Japanese craftsmanship. The collection featured black and white blouses accented with lace, embroidery, and ruffles, voluminous miniskirts and dresses characteristic of the brand, knitwear in vibrant colors like green and yellow, and classic jackets and voluminous coats adorned with fur and Swarovski crystals. A design featuring lace tape sewn onto wool rings was also studded with Swarovski crystals. A couture-like print dress was also inspired by the colors of forest lakes and flowers blooming in the water. Designer Hayashi Shuzo says, "Especially in times like these, this collection is filled with the desire to cherish handwork and Japanese craftsmanship even more. We have focused more than ever on handmade and Japanese production areas, such as embroidery, lace, and designs using looms from Kiryu and Oshu, to create things that cannot be made overseas. Recently, I have been telling my staff to put their heart and soul into every stitch."
