On the 19th, Sanyo Shokai announced that its licensing agreement for the Burberry brand will end at the end of the Spring/Summer 2015 season.
Sanyo Shokai, Burberry, and joint licensee Mitsui & Co. had been in final negotiations with Burberry regarding the continuation of the licensing agreement. As a result of the discussions, they agreed that "Burberry London's women's and men's clothing business will end at the end of the Spring/Summer 2015 season," and that "Burberry children's clothing (Sanyo Shokai sells the global collection) will be transferred to the Burberry Group after the end of the Spring/Summer 2015 season." From Summer 2015 onwards, Burberry is expected to begin full-scale expansion of its directly operated stores in Japan.
As for "Burberry Blue Label" and "Burberry Black Label," which Sanyo Shokai developed jointly with Burberry, the Burberry name will be dropped from the autumn/winter 2015 season, and "Blue Label" and "Black Label" will be developed as the main brand names. The business will continue with new sub-brands.
