Toraya Cafe introduces autumn-only parfaits, fondants, and other sweet treats made with plenty of Japanese chestnuts

Aug 5, 2016

Toraya Cafe will be introducing a limited-time autumn menu made with plenty of domestically grown chestnuts.

The "Japanese Chestnut Parfait" (1,188 yen including tax), available from September 16th (planned) to November 1st, is a parfait made with plenty of Japanese chestnuts in the skins, minced meat, soy milk ice cream, yokan (sweet bean paste), and bean paste paste. Beneath the ice cream are hidden treats such as maple syrup, walnut crackers, shiratama (rice flour dumplings), and roasted green tea agar jelly.

From September 16th (planned) to November 14th, they will also be selling the popular autumn staple "Japanese Chestnut and Chocolate Fondant" (972 yen including tax; small portion 810 yen including tax at the Aoyama store only; regular takeout 3,780 yen including tax; small takeout 540 yen including tax). The dough is made from smooth and white bean paste mixed with Japanese chestnut paste and milk chocolate, and is topped with large pieces of candied Japanese chestnuts.

Also, from September 16th (planned) to mid-November, the popular autumn staple "An Paste [Chestnut]" (864 yen including tax) will be available, made with domestic and French chestnuts and white bean paste made from 100% rare white azuki beans. It can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, such as spreading it on toast or adding it to ice cream.
