On August 24th, his 50th birthday, interior designer Masamichi Katayama, founder and president of Wonderwall, will release "Wonderwall Case Studies," the world's first comprehensive book on projects, processes, and thinking.
The book features 11 case studies of projects completed between 2000, when Masamichi Katayama founded Wonderwall, and 2015. The book delves into the inspiration, research methods, and processes, and provides a comprehensive visual explanation of the thought process leading up to the project's completion. The book provides a comprehensive overview of Wonderwall's international and diverse projects, showcasing a wide range of properties. Featured properties include Thom Browne, New York Aoyama, PASS THE BATON, UNIQLO, Yoyogi Village code kurkku/music bar, Pierre Hermé Paris Aoyama, and colette.
The book also explores Katayama Masamichi's image through nine categories, including "Finding & Keeping," which introduces the art and antiques he has collected; "The Social Network," which brings together creators closely associated with Katayama Masamichi; and "Retail Therapy," which introduces places that inspire him. The book was edited and designed by London-based WINKREATIVE, led by Tyler Brûlé, founder and editor-in-chief of MONOCLE.
