Isetan Shinjuku is hosting "Isetan Art & Creation 2016," an event that creates opportunities for visitors to experience art in a familiar environment, on each floor of the store until August 22nd. The theme for this event is "Intelligent Pop Culture," showcasing a new pop culture born from the cross-fertilization of different dimensions, such as "traditional culture and technology," "art and fashion," and "artist collaboration." The project's image icons are the dance and rap duo FEMM (composed of two mannequins, RiRi and LuLu), art director Takashi Okada, and the three-piece dance rock band Radical Hardcore Clique. The store has also produced a "pop, artistic video featuring mannequins flying around" in collaboration with the three groups, which is available on YouTube. As part of this project, pop-up shops for record label Hostess Entertainment and Radiohead will open on Stage #2 on the second floor of the main building. Visitors can find merchandise from this year's Summer Sonic, as well as T-shirts in collaboration with Needle Design, all of which combine music, fashion, and culture. The Shinjuku Otome Zakka Store will open on the fifth floor of the store's Center Park, offering items to stimulate the feminine spirit. Items on display include colorful and warm tableware and chopstick rests, small cat-themed plates from Ukikiki, cushions from Timonet, a duo consisting of an apparel designer and an interior designer, and ceramics by Satoru Saito, featuring overglaze Indian chintz motifs. Also, starting this year, in addition to these feminine items, the Shinjuku Otoko Zakka Store will also be opening, offering items to appeal to men. The store's selection includes antique BALLON aroma diffusers, featuring the texture of pure white ceramic, as well as NEWSED's document folders made from the same tent fabric as the Tokyo Dome and bow ties made from the same durable, lustrous material as seatbelts, transforming outdated objects into new works of art. The store's handbag section on the first floor of the main building features shoulder and tote bags from designer Yuima Nakazato's nippoppin collection. With a holographic surface and Arita porcelain studs at the base, these bags are a fusion of cutting-edge technology and tradition, drawing attention. Also available are tote bags from KNIT IS CANVAS!, crafted from knit jacquard, which resemble a canvas. A pop-up shop featuring Paul Smith's artistic culture, themed around travel and color, is also open on the first floor of the men's section. At the venue, two limited edition bicycles (750,000 yen) created in collaboration with MARCIAN, a bike frame manufacturer that Paul Smith himself loves, will be on sale, as well as a coat (90,000 yen) and a travel suit (90,000 yen) with a world map lining in Paul Smith's signature stripes and colors.
