Musician Shuta Hasunuma's solo exhibition "Compositional | Rhythm" will be held at Spiral Garden in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, from September 27th to October 5th.

Shuta Hasunuma is a musician who not only composes and performs, but also applies his compositional techniques to various media, creating installations composed of video, sound, and sculpture. This solo exhibition, his first of its kind in Tokyo, is a culmination of Shuta Hasunuma's work to date and symbolizes his new challenges.

The exhibition's main theme, "Rhythm," refers to the rhythmic movement of the three elements of music in the Western world: melody, harmony, and rhythm. Expanding on the "melody" and "harmony" he has already approached in his musical career, the exhibition focuses on the possibilities and creativity that can be born from rhythm. The rhythm that Shuta Hasunuma refers to does not only refer to auditory sensations, but also to the structure and organization of time and space through the works installed in the exhibition space. By extending this concept beyond the timeline, the exhibition presents various temporal and spatial movements as works, engaging perception. While the exhibition follows on from his solo exhibition "Compositions - Space, Time and Architecture" held at the Aomori Contemporary Art Center in 2015, it features new works created specifically for the exhibition at Spiral. Related events include "Dance × Music curated by Dance New Air" (free admission) by Anna Totori, Erika Sugiyama, Minako Suzuki, and Hirokazu Morikawa on October 1st at 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM, and a performance and artist talk by Shuta Hasunuma on October 2nd at 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM, respectively.
