Tonda Hayashi Ran, whose creative practice employs a variety of techniques including collage, illustration, and painting, will hold her first solo exhibition in about a year, "THE FREAK SHOW," at VOILLD in Meguro, Tokyo, from September 2nd.
The theme of this exhibition is freak shows, and Tonda Hayashi Ran's curiosity and interest in the strange is expressed through each piece, as characters in a fictional world through her own perspective. The colorful and approachable works seem to awaken the viewer's deepest desires and speak to the importance and joy of having free tastes and sensibilities.
The exhibition will feature approximately 20 pieces, including paintings and 3D collages. In addition to the exhibited works, original exhibition-exclusive merchandise such as posters, cushions, and mugs will also be available for purchase at the venue.
In addition, on September 2nd, the first day of the solo exhibition, an opening reception will be held with the artist from 6pm, and Tachikawa bakery Symbolpan will be setting up a stall to celebrate the exhibition.
