Valentino presented its Spring/Summer 2014 collection at Paris Fashion Week. Creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
Color-blocked and mixed-material pieces appeared one after another. Suits, outerwear, shirts, and denim pieces featured pockets, flaps, back belts, and collars in different materials and colors. Blousons and T-shirts were presented in oversized, boxy silhouettes.
Materials used included dry wool, bonded cotton, and baracia for a lightweight look. The color palette featured military influences, including blue, indigo, burgundy, and khaki. Fabric patterns included camouflage, florals, sailor stripes, and Toile de Jouy (a traditional French pattern).
Footwear included lace-up shoes, platform moccasins, and flip-flops with crocodile-skin thongs. The flip-flops were a collaboration with Havaianas. For accessories, there are a wide variety of clutch bags (two-tone and bifold types), and they are coordinated with shoulder bags as well.
