Jul 15, 2013

To celebrate the Japanese release of Serge Gainsbourg's documentary film "No Comment by Gainsbourg," Bar No Comment by Gainsbourg opened inside Tokyo Soul Station on the 7th floor of the Shin-Marunouchi Building. It's available for a limited time until July 31st.

Produced by Naoki Tachikawa, who is active in a wide range of fields, including film and music, the bar is based on the concept of "for children and adults who don't know Gainsbourg." Gainsbourg's album covers are on display inside the bar, and a digest version of "No Comment by Gainsbourg" is also shown.

The bar also offers a limited-edition cocktail, "No Comment by Gainsbourg" (1,000 yen), made by shaking Gainsbourg's favorite vodka, "Stolichyana," named after Gainsbourg's famous song "Coffee Color," with Laphroaig whiskey. The background music is, of course, Gainsbourg songs. "No Comment by Gainsbourg" was released in France in 2011. This film explores Gainsbourg's life with archive footage, including monologues and unreleased interviews by Gainsbourg himself, and also includes rare footage and comments from his glamorous romantic partners, including Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot. The film will be screened at Bunkamura Le Cinema from July 27th and at Shibuya Uplink from August 3rd.
