A yukata dressing class will be held on July 20th at the AL Main Space on the first floor (3-7-17 Ebisu Minami, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), led by illustrator Kaori Hirao, known for her love of kimono and alcohol. The class will cover topics such as how to wear a yukata without it coming undone, how to choose yukata patterns, and stylish knots appropriate for different ages. All participants will also receive an original yukata dressing booklet featuring Hirao's illustrations, so they can review the lesson at home. After dressing, there will be a cocktail hour, during which participants can enjoy their yukata look while sipping on some drinks. The venue will also feature an exhibition and sale of Japanese accessories, including original obi-dome ornaments, that complement kimonos. Kaori Hirao is an illustrator known for her work on the covers of Paulo Coelho's books, including the international bestsellers "The Alchemist" and "Veronica Decided to Die" (Kadokawa Shoten), as well as magazine illustrations, product planning, and advertising. She has an atelier in Koyama, Zushi, Shonan, and works on a variety of projects, including photography and essays. She has been wearing kimonos for 13 years and graduated from the instructor course of Yamashita Etsuko Kimono School in 2005. She has also written books such as "Tachinomi" (Standing Drinking) and "Soba Drinking" and is known for her love of alcohol, hosting an event called "Snack Kaori."
