This series introduces foods selected by trend-conscious and discerning press. This time, we're looking at "PALOMITAS." Palomitas' colorful popcorn was served at the opening party for the LANVIN Ginza store and at an exhibition by Baroque Japan Limited, the company behind popular brands like Moussy. Palomitas means "popcorn" in Spanish. Rina Fujiwara, CEO of Olive Popcorn Co., Ltd., the company that produces the product, was so impressed by the colorful Palomitas she encountered while traveling in Spain that she decided to develop original products to spread the brand in Japan. Their greatest appeal is, without a doubt, the wide variety of flavors and colors available. There are over 40 flavors available, including Earl Grey Milk Tea, which packs a gentle sweetness, and Basil Tomato, which is perfect as a snack with beer or wine. The secret to its popularity is that the colorings used to coat the popcorn are all natural, such as vegetables and fruits, and are washed with olive oil for a healthy finish. In addition to selling directly from their factory in Asakusa, they also have shops on the second basement floor of Printemps Ginza and on the first floor of Maihama Ikspiari, The Courtyard. They are also sold at Sweets Concierge and Dean & Deluca. According to Baroque Japan Limited PR, "This is the first time we've offered a food souvenir at an exhibition. We prepared and distributed the popular popcorn in original packaging. In the past, we've offered original brand goods as souvenirs, but this time, someone suggested sweets as souvenirs, so we decided to offer food. It was very well received by visitors. We have a large male audience, and we think that this popcorn was enjoyed by people of all genders and ages."
