The sweets festival "Karuizawa Sweets Expo 2013" will be held at Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court from August 6th to 9th.
This year's theme, the 8th annual event, is "Sweets Museum." Through experiences of learning, making, tasting, and viewing, the exhibition will introduce the new charm and joy of sweets.
The exhibition is comprised of five venues. The main venue, "Art Collection," will feature a course menu of the various sweet creations exhibited within the Sweets Museum. This area requires a ticket system, and is so popular that applications are overwhelming every year that a lottery is held. *Applications for this year have already closed.
The other four venues do not require tickets for admission. At "Macaron Lab," visitors can watch pastry chefs make macarons up close and learn how to make them. They can also purchase macaron burgers that can be easily enjoyed with one hand, and try "Macaron Art," where visitors can create original photo stands using macarons and sugar crafts.
In addition, there will be a "Garden Lounge" where beautiful, three-dimensional sweets like paintings are served in an open lounge, and a "Sweet Court" where you can enjoy tea time in a courtyard decorated with giant art objects of palettes and spoons. Also, a sweets shop, "Forest Sweets Gallery," will be open specially during the period, bringing together popular shops. Approximately 50 kinds of colorful sweets will be available, including limited edition boxes that can only be purchased here.
