Fashion designer Christopher Kane was born on July 26, 1982, in Glasgow, Scotland.

In 2006, he won the top prize for his graduate collection at Central Saint Martins London. After graduating, he interned at fashion brands such as Giles. Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue, had noticed his talent while he was still a student, and through her introduction, he met Donatella Versace, who appointed him as a design consultant for Versace's haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories.

He unveiled his own brand, Christopher Kane, at London Fashion Week in the Spring/Summer 2007 season. That same year, he won the Scottish Designer of the Year award, earning him acclaim as a designer. Since then, he has worked closely with his sister, Tammy, to grow his business and distinguish himself as a designer. He also collaborated with Shiseido's Maquillage in 2008, and with Topshop and Swarovski in 2009. He began developing menswear in 2010.

In 2009, he was appointed designer of Versace's youth line, Versus, where he worked on accessories and clothing for both men and women. In 2012, he stepped down as designer of the brand and announced that he would focus on his own brand. At the time, there was speculation that he would be appointed designer of Balenciaga as Nicolas Ghesquière's successor, but Alexander Wang was appointed creative director of the brand.

In January of this year, it was announced that Kering (then PPR), which owns brands such as Gucci and Alexander McQueen, had acquired 51% of Christopher Kane's shares.
