Donatella Versace, designer of Versace, was born on May 2, 1955, in Italy.

She supported her brother Gianni Versace's business as a designer, which was founded in 1978, but after Gianni's death on July 15, 1997, she became the chief designer of Versace in 1998. She currently also serves as the company's vice president.

The main brand, Versace, presents its collections at Milan Fashion Week and Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. Versus, Versace's second line, which began in 1989, had Christopher Kane as creative director from 2009 until November last year, but from the 2013-14 autumn/winter collection, Jonathan William Anderson was appointed as the new designer and the line was renamed "Versus Versace." It has been announced that a presentation of the new men's and women's collections will be held in New York on May 15th.
