A pop-up shop for FUGLEN, an interior design shop and cafe bar with its main store in Oslo, Norway, is open on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku store until July 9th.
The pop-up shop will sell items selected under FUGLEN's direction, including FUGLEN coffee, as well as vintage furniture and pottery imported from Norway for the event.
Five types of coffee beans roasted by a Norwegian coffee roaster will be on sale. Related items such as the Aeropress and Kalita coffee makers, which are said to be well suited to Norwegian coffee's fruity and acidic flavor, will also be on display. Coffee brewing demonstrations will be held at the venue, and tastings will also be available. The store will also feature vintage furniture from the 1950s and 1960s designed by Torbjorn Afdal and Arne Halvorsen, as well as vintage ceramics by Cathrineholm and Figgjo. Fuglen was founded in 1963 in Oslo, a city known as the coffee kingdom, boasting the world's highest quality coffee. The store's name means "bird" in Norwegian. Based on the overall concept of Norwegian vintage design, the store promotes a lifestyle that combines coffee, furniture, and traditional cocktails. In May 2012, the first overseas store opened in Shibuya, Tokyo. This event was organized as a tie-in project with "NORWEGIAN ICONS," held at Hillside Forum & Gallery in Daikanyama. The exhibition features approximately 100 pieces of vintage furniture, interior items, art, and reproductions of masterpieces, and is available for purchase until July 7th.
