The most distinctive feature is the two-tone design, achieved by dipping the lower half of the bisque body in glaze and painting it with "zubukake" (a technique used to apply glaze). The distinctive head and snout patterns of the mosquito spear pig remain intact, while the lower half is dyed differently using the "kakewake" technique to create a two-tone design.

"By revisiting the mosquito repellent pig, which has long been a symbol of summer in Japan and which everyone has seen at least once, I hope to evoke a sense of the good old days of Japan." This project was born from that idea. In an age where insecticides and electric mosquito repellents have evolved, lighting mosquito coils to repel mosquitoes and releasing smoke is still a culture we cherish.
We requested a special order with slight modifications, such as a vibrant two-tone color, to fit modern lifestyles.
I had the impression that mosquito repellent pigs were mass-produced items, so I never imagined they were still being made in Japan. Please take note of the intricate details, such as the hand-colored patterns on the head and nose.
As the material is heat-resistant, we recommend placing not only mosquito coils but also cone-shaped incense on it, and slowly savoring the scent and smoke coming out of the nose.
