Collaborating with Japanese manga and animation works that are attracting attention from around the world! Isetan Mitsukoshi Media Arts Business is finally in full swing

Isetan Mitsukoshi, which has long been committed to promoting culture and nurturing creators, is collaborating with outstanding works and creators in the media arts field (film, manga, animation, and art using computers and other electronic devices), which is currently attracting attention both domestically and internationally, as stipulated in Article 9 of the Basic Act on Culture and the Arts. Using its expertise honed through its department store business, Isetan Mitsukoshi is planning and implementing discoveries, surprises, experiences, and products that can only be found here. This new customer experience, both in-store and online, will deliver thrilling experiences to all fans of Japan's renowned media arts, including customers who traditionally have little contact with department stores.

Starting May 21, the Isetan Mitsukoshi Online Store will launch a portal site introducing the appeal of media arts and original projects. Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store will be hosting a collaboration event, including online events, with "Fate/Grand Order: Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot," the film based on the hugely popular smartphone game, while Ginza Mitsukoshi will be holding a collaboration event with the TV animation "TIGER & BUNNY," which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

"Fate/Grand Order the Movie: Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot" x MITSUKOSHI
"Fate/Grand Order" was recommended by the jury of the 21st Japan Media Arts Festival in 2018, and continues to gain fans all over the world. This is the second collaboration with the Fate series, following last summer's "Fate/stay night [Heaven's Feel] III.spring song." Collaboration menus are available at restaurants, and limited collaboration products are available for pre-order at the online store.

Aim of establishing a dedicated media arts business department
In April 2021, a dedicated media arts department was established within the Digital Business Management Department within the Online Creation Department, which is responsible for Mitsukoshi Isetan's online store, digital services and new digital-related businesses. By combining the media arts field (film, games, manga, animation, entertainment) with Mitsukoshi Isetan's resources (product planning capabilities, multiple stores in Tokyo and online store, etc.), the company will provide a new customer experience through the filter of fashion and cutting-edge trends, and will promote a new business model that aims to expand customer contact with customers who have traditionally had little contact with department stores, as well as customers who are interested in art.
