The "Philosophical Fashion" series, showcasing creators who reexamine the meaning of clothing and continue to propose fashion based on a consistent concept, will be held at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa from January 12th.
The first in the series is the "FINAL HOME" exhibition by fashion designer Kosuke Tsumura. FINAL HOME is a nylon coat created based on the concept that "when you lose your home, clothing is the last thing you need to protect yourself from." While it is usually considered minimalist fashion, in emergencies it can be used as cold weather gear and evacuation gear. This exhibition will explore the roles of "clothing" and "fashion" through the activities of Final Home. Also scheduled for the exhibition will be an artist talk by Kosuke Tsumura and a "Flower Puzzle Workshop" to help people bloom flowers of hope.
Born in Saitama in 1959, Kosuke Tsumura won the 52nd Soen Award and joined Miyake Design Office. In 1994, he founded "FINAL HOME" and made his first appearances at the Paris Collection and Tokyo Collection. His activities are not limited to Japan, and he continues to question the relationship between fashion and society/the environment at exhibitions around the world, including in New York, London, and Israel.
