Art Fair Tokyo 2013, Japan's largest art fair, opened on March 22nd at the Tokyo International Forum and runs until March 24th. This year's eighth edition is a collaboration between three events: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo (MBFWT) and Tokyo Runway. A new section, "Tokyo Limited," featuring over 10 participating galleries, has been introduced for the first time. The exhibition has expanded beyond fine art to include a variety of genres, including fashion, contemporary jewelry, crafts, and vintage photography. With the cooperation of MBFWT, "writtenafterwards," designed by Yoshikazu Yamagata, will exhibit for the first time with the "God of Clothing." This exhibition features a nylon coat created based on the concept that "the ultimate home is clothing," as part of fashion designer Kosuke Tsumura's project, FINAL HOME. "Final Home" is also planning a workshop on making puzzles using bubble wrap. Additionally, "Japanese Art Photographers," a photo gallery by the editorial department of photography magazine "IMA," will feature a chronological exhibition of works by approximately 100 active Japanese art photographers under the title "The Current State of Japanese Photography." Other special programs include the "Mountain Idyllic Hosokawa Morihiro" exhibition and the screening of "Herb & Dorothy: Little Giants in the Art Forest," as well as a variety of events such as workshops and talk shows. Tomio Koyama of Tomio Koyama Gallery said, "The dates overlapped with G-Tokyo, so some galleries were forced to shift their exhibits to that location. However, thanks to Executive Director Takahiro Kanejima, this time the events have been enhanced and more powerful. People in the fashion industry have vivid sensibilities, so I think the connection between art and fashion will move in a positive direction."
