UNIQLO continues its string of major collaborations for the Fall/Winter 2015 season. The new collection, "Carine Roitfeld," released on October 30th, is a collaboration with Carine Roitfeld, founder and editor-in-chief of CR Fashion Book magazine and global fashion director of Harper's Bazaar. On October 22nd, Roitfeld personally visited Japan and hosted a party to unveil the Fall/Winter 2015 collection. The collection, created with the charismatic editor Roitfeld, who led French Vogue as editor-in-chief for 10 years, offers a glamorous style that contradicts the casual image of UNIQLO, which defines itself as "bringing out a new beauty and a new self in women." The collection features a variety of materials, including silk, cashmere, and wool, and includes jackets, pants, skirts, and vests in the same pattern, allowing for a wide range of styles. When asked about working with Uniqlo's design director, Naomi Takizawa, who spearheaded the collaboration, Roitfeld said, "He lives in France, so I think it was great that he understood French taste and was able to translate the 1960s feeling and French sexiness into a Japanese style." Looking at the Japanese staff members at the venue wearing the clothes, he commented with satisfaction, "They all look great." Uniqlo has collaborated with a variety of designers and celebrities. While it has previously developed styles for stylish adult men and women, such as +J, this is its first attempt at a lineup geared toward a more targeted adult woman. It will be interesting to see how Uniqlo's new offerings are received. The new "Carine Roitfeld" collection will be available in 14 countries and regions around the world starting October 30th.
