Ines de la Fressange visits Japan, UNIQLO holds 2015-16 Fall/Winter launch party

The 2015-16 Fall/Winter collection of the collaborative line between UNIQLO and Parisian fashion icon Ines de la Fressange went on sale on September 4th. To commemorate this, Ines visited Japan for the first time since the collection's launch on September 10th, and a launch party was held at Tenoha Daikanyama.

Ines visited the venue with UNIQLO design director Naoki Takizawa. On the day, she wore a wine-red velvet blouson and selvedge jeans chosen from the 2015-16 Fall/Winter collection.

When asked what they consider most important when collaborating, the two replied, "passion." "Takizawa and I share similar passions and philosophies. Not only do we share a passion for supporting many women, but we also share similar hobbies and tastes. For example, during the design process, we often find ourselves laughing at the fact that we've chosen similar photographs as sources," says Ines. She also adds, "Japanese women, who inherit the Zen tradition, are charming in that they are lovely, yet shy and reserved. Their simple way of thinking is something they share with Parisian women." This collection, in which Naoki Takizawa incorporates Ines's recommendations for high-quality clothing that flatters women, is incorporated into UNIQLO's "LifeWear" concept. This marks the fourth collection, and the theme for the 2015-16 Fall/Winter collection is a classic modern style that evokes scenes from French films of the 1940s and 1950s, such as those by François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard. The collection includes a wide range of outerwear, including a chesterfield coat made from a single layer of wool, a first for UNIQLO, as well as jackets in a variety of materials, including soft wool like a cardigan, checked tweed, and corduroy. The collection also includes casual wardrobe pieces for everyday wear, including items with a masculine touch, such as striped chinos that have been washed to give them a worn-in look, as well as playful pieces such as sweaters and cardigans featuring Nordic and snow patterns, and a fawn motif, a favorite of Ines. The collection also includes ladylike pieces, such as a velvet dress, perfect for a party, which has never been seen before. Another feature of this season is the wide selection of items made from natural materials, not just knitwear.

A total of 70 items will be available throughout the season, including jackets, coats, sweaters, cardigans, shirts, blouses, T-shirts, sweatshirts, dresses, tunics, and accessories such as hats and stoles, in deep colors such as forest green inspired by fir trees and mulled wine red, as well as warm colors such as camel, gray, beige, and off-white.

The collection will be available at Uniqlo stores nationwide, with the full lineup available at select stores including the Uniqlo Ginza store and online store. Some items will go on sale from October 16th. In addition, a special floor dedicated to the collection will open on the 12th floor of the Uniqlo Ginza store from September 4th.
