The Aoyama Bread Festival, a marketplace gathering over 45 bakeries and bread-related items, will be held on October 24th and 25th in front of the United Nations University in Aoyama, Tokyo.
Starting in 2013, this seventh event will be themed around an "Autumn Harvest Festival," exploring bread from various angles, pairing it with seasonal ingredients like sweet potatoes, chestnuts, and pumpkin, as well as accompaniments like wine, cheese, and drip coffee. A wood-fired oven will be set up at the venue so visitors can enjoy freshly baked bread. Guests can place their favorite bread in the oven and enjoy warm bread. A bread-baking demonstration by a fermentation facility in Gunma Prefecture will also be held on October 25th.
The event's traditional limited-edition bread set will also be available again this year. Based on the theme of "Tokyo Morning," the bread set will make your mornings even more enjoyable and fulfilling. A special "Tokyo Morning Bread Set," featuring breads from Garden House Crafts, Katane Bakery, and Tarui Bakery, will also be on sale, limited to 30 per day.
In addition, in connection with the event, Bread Lab, a team centered around members of the Aoyama Bread Festival, has launched a crowdfunding book publishing project. The book, themed around "craft bakery," is titled "CRAFT BAKERIES - The Quest for Bread, the Adventure of Wheat, the Wonders of Fermentation." With a target fund of 5 million yen, donations are being accepted until November 16th, with publication scheduled for November 22nd. A booth will also be set up at the Aoyama Bread Festival.
