Easy DIY neon nail art with three different textures: gloss, matte, and clear. [Today's item]

Jul 4, 2015

Nail artist JUNKO offers easy yet stylish summer nail ideas. Today, she's adding a pop of neon colors to her nails, perfect for festivals, swimsuits, or simple white T-shirt and jeans. "I've added a playful touch to neon nails, which are impactful even when applied in a single color. These are nails to try on days when you're feeling like having fun! I enjoy matching the colors on my hands and feet, and I also play around with different textures by using a matte top coat," says JUNKO. The nail polish she used is the new Color Show Nails from Maybelline. From the new color lineup released on June 20th, she chose vibrant colors with juicy, fresh names: "Acai Frozen" (700) and "Green Limone" (740). For her feet, she used a matte top coat called "Color Me Matte" (S750) to control the texture. You can use it all over, as I did on my feet, or you can create a matte finish in parts.
■Products Used
Maybelline Color Show Nail A 700, 740 ¥500 each
Maybelline Color Show Nail Top Coat S750 ¥600
■How to
(1) Shape your hands into a short, round shape.
(2) Imagine the shape of the part you want to keep clear, and cut a 5mm wide V-shape out of masking tape (or cellophane tape if you don't have masking tape).
(3) Apply the masking tape cut in (2) to your thumb and middle finger, then apply 700 over the tape from base to tip. After drying, peel off the tape, and only the area where it was applied will be clear. You can also have fun with different variations by switching the fingers you apply the tape to on your left and right hands, or by switching the peaks and valleys of the V-shaped design.
(4) For your feet, simply apply 740 two or three times, then finish with S750.
