Sleep buried in books... Book and Bed Tokyo, a bookstore where you can stay overnight, opens in Ikebukuro

Jul 15, 2015

R-STORE, a select real estate information website, will open a hotel called "BOOK AND BED TOKYO" at the end of September, based on the concept of a "bookstore where you can stay overnight." The address is Lumiere Building 7F, 1-17-7 Nishi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo.

The hotel's "bookstore where you can stay overnight" concept aims to provide the perfect sleep experience everyone has had at least once: "Reading a book, your eyelids suddenly become heavy, and before you know it, it's morning." While the hotel targets foreign tourists visiting Japan and domestic travelers, it's also a place that book lovers, even those not traveling, will want to stay at at least once.

The interior design was handled by SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE, led by Makoto Tanijiri and Ai Yoshida, who has worked on a wide range of projects including residential, commercial, and installation projects. The hotel features humorous touches, such as embedding beds into bookshelves so guests can sleep surrounded by books. The book selection is handled by SHIBUYA PUBLISHING & BOOKSELLERS, a select book shop that proposes "living with books."

In addition, until July 25th, a room that has been quickly recreated as a room from the hotel is on display at SHIBUYA PUBLISHING & BOOKSELLERS (17-3 Kamiyama-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), where exhibits include a bed embedded in a bookshelf.
