BOOKMARC, a bookstore by MARC JACOBS, will open its first Asian store in October in Harajuku, Tokyo (4-26-14 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). Bookmark opened its first store on Bleecker Street in New York in September 2010, and has since expanded to Los Angeles, London, and Paris. It has also hosted book signings with model Kate Moss, singer Beck, musical duo The Kills, and record producer Pharrell Williams. The selection of books will primarily focus on art, music, and culture, which are sources of inspiration for designer Marc Jacobs himself. The store will also carry rare vintage books, stationery such as original notebooks and pens, and accessories such as tote bags. The Harajuku store will also carry Japanese books. The store design was handled by Stephen Jaklitsch, who has designed all Marc Jacobs stores.
At the same time as the Bookmark store opening, Japan's first street-level men's store for MARC by MARC JACOBS will open on the first basement floor.
