BY KAMAWANU, the international brand of tenugui specialty shop KAMAWANU, will open a pop-up store on the Architecture and Design floor of Daikanyama T-Site Bookstore Building No. 2 from July 21st to August 21st.
In 2014, BY KAMAWANU launched the scarf collection "SCARF BY KAMAWANU," which reinvented the concept of tenugui, a traditional Japanese hand towel. The first collection featured scarves designed using the "chusen" dyeing technique, a tradition dating back to the Meiji period, showcasing the wide range of Japanese indigo blue.
The designer is Thomas Lykke (OeO design studio), a globally active designer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. His new 2015 collection features bold, abstract graphics inspired by Tokyo's landscapes, and includes the new "Bold" and "Line" collections.
Based on previous collections, the collection expresses images taken from the structure of Tokyo's urban landscape and the contrast of its buildings in simple yet beautiful patterns. It was unveiled at Maison & Objet, one of Europe's largest interior design fairs, held in Paris in January, and has since been rolled out in countries including the United States, Germany, Denmark and Australia.
The pop-up shop, designed by spatial designer Matsumura Kazunori based on the concept of "wind and news," will sell new products and colors for 2015, as well as items selected for global expansion.
