The "Art History of Beautiful Girls" exhibition opens at the Aomori Museum of Art on July 12th. This exhibition is a sequel to the 2010 exhibition "Robots and Art: Visual Images of Machines and the Body." Focusing on the theme of "beautiful girls," a prominent motif in Japanese manga and anime, the exhibition spans art, literature, manga, anime, and figurines, looking back from the Edo period to the present day. The exhibition features 16 sections, including "The Birth of Girls," which explores girls' magazines, including the 1902 magazine "Shojokai," "Running Girls," which features fighting girls, and "Magical Girls and the Desire to Transform," showcasing the popular "witch girls" of anime and manga. Over 300 works by approximately 110 artists, from Osamu Tezuka, Fujio Akatsuka, Ado Mizumori, Seiji Togo, Kuniyoshi Kaneko, to Suehiro Maruo, will also be on display. The original animation "Girl Student," based on a novel by Osamu Dazai, will also be screened.
From July 1st to 31st, a live painting event by contemporary artist Obi (ob) will be held. Related events will also be held, including a performance stage by cosplayers related to Takashi Murakami's "Six Heart Princess (6HP)" from 4pm on the 12th.
