Yuji Susaki's photo exhibition "COSPLAY made in Japan" will open on the 24th at Emon Photo Gallery in Minami-Azabu, Tokyo.
Focusing on the relationship between eroticism and cosplay, the act of dressing up as fictional characters, Susaki created the work "COSPLAY" 15 years in the making. Using original props, styling, and hair and makeup, the work expresses Japanese fetishism by fusing traditional Japanese elements such as courtesans, bus guides, and samurai with delicate handwork. As a special feature, the exhibition will also feature an image session featuring selected images from a collaborative photobook with the idol group "Dempagumi.inc." A talk show featuring Moga Mogami of Dempagumi.inc and Susaki will be held at 6:00 PM on September 2nd.
Yuji Susaki released a photobook with the same title as this exhibition, "COSPLAY made in Japan," in July last year. On the 8th of this month, he published "DENPA MODELS×100 COSPLAY," featuring Dempagumi.inc as the subjects.
