Singapore-based luxury resort hotel chain Aman Resorts and Mitsui Fudosan are jointly opening Amanemu, Aman's second resort hotel in Japan, in Ise-Shima National Park in Mie Prefecture in spring 2016. This will be Aman's first resort with a hot spring, and it will be built along the beautiful coastline of Ago Bay, known worldwide as the "Bay of Pearls." The hotel's name, Amanemu, is a combination of the Sanskrit words "aman," meaning "peace," and "nemu," meaning "joy" in Japanese. The hotel will feature a spacious Aman Spa, restaurant, lounge, and other facilities. The Aman Spa will feature a dedicated Watsu pool, treatment suites, a gym, and a yoga studio. Two private hot spring baths will also be available. All 24 suites and four two-bedroom villas will have hot spring water. From the spacious terrace of the simple yet elegant suite, guests can enjoy views of the pearl farming rafts and scenic islands dotting Ago Bay. The Japanese cuisine served at the resort's restaurants will be crafted in accordance with the culinary heritage of "Miketsukuni," a land of food that has offered abundant seafood and grains to the Imperial Court and the Shinto shrine since ancient times. Aman Chairman Vladimir Doronin commented on the development, "Amanemu marks the brand's 30th property, and unlike the urban-style Aman Tokyo, it is a unique destination where guests can fully experience the charm of one of Japan's most traditional regions. Designed with respect to Japan's diverse culture, Amanemu is Aman's first hot spring resort, blending tradition and modernity." Custom-made Aman journeys are also available upon request. It seems that the tour will provide a special experience of exploring the traditional culture of the region, including the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the sacred Ise Shrine.
