As part of its "Future Creation Project," NAKED Corporation is involved in the planning, direction, and production of "Maruoka Castle x NAKED Hikari Musubi," which began on March 31, 2021, at Maruoka Castle in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture.
Since 2014, NAKED has been working on the Future Creation Project, engaging in co-creation activities both in Japan and overseas with local children, adults, and businesses to creatively express the charm and passion of their local areas for the future.
In 2014, NAKED supported the expression of passion using projection mapping at Suginami Ward Izumi Elementary School (now Suginami Ward Shinizumi Izumi Elementary School), and in 2015 at Kesennuma Koyo High School. In 2016, we launched the "0×0=∞ (Mugendai) Project," a hands-on project to foster creativity with Osaka University of Arts. We have supported the planning, direction, and production of works by students, including those from the Department of Art Science at Osaka University of Arts and interested high school students, and have presented these works every year.
And in 2021, as part of this Future Creation Project, we launched a new permanent event, "Maruoka Castle x Naked Hikari Musubi," in collaboration with local residents, which can be enjoyed year-round at Maruoka Castle, which boasts one of the oldest architectural styles among the remaining castle towers in Fukui Prefecture.
In addition to a projection mapping show that allows visitors to experience the history of Maruoka Castle projected onto the castle tower, visitors can enjoy interactive content featuring winning works from the "Ichibu Keijo Award*" written by the calligraphy club of local Fukui Prefectural Maruoka High School.
*The "Ichibu Keijo Award" is a letter-writing competition hosted annually by Sakai City with the aim of raising awareness nationwide about the monument at Maruoka Castle that reads "Ichibu Keijo: Be careful of fire, don't make Osen cry, fatten your horses," the shortest letter in Japan, as well as reviving the culture of authentic letter-writing, which cannot be conveyed through print or email.
Going forward, NAKED will continue to contribute to the local community and foster children's creativity through its Future Creation Project activities.
