Nike will open the Nike Innovation House at the BA-TSU Art Gallery in Omotesando, Shibuya, Tokyo, from June 7th to 22nd, where visitors can experience Nike's latest football innovations. Admission is free. The house will feature displays of cleats worn by players like Yuto Nagatomo at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, as well as jerseys from 10 national teams. Visitors will also be introduced to the functionality and features of each product in an interactive experience facility using mobile devices. Nike has rewritten the history of football innovation since introducing its first football cleats in 1994, 20 years ago. This event will be a space where visitors can experience Nike's evolution and innovation. The exhibition is comprised of four installations focused on functionality and design, including the latest Nike Mercurial Superfly cleats, which utilize Nike Flyknit technology, a proprietary manufacturing technique, and jerseys from 10 national teams.
The first thing that catches your eye upon entering the venue is one of the highlights of the exhibition: an installation showcasing the explosive speed of the Nike Mercurial Superfly cleats, developed through four years of research and development at the Nike Sports Research Lab and insights from Cristiano Ronaldo. Visitors can also experience Nagatomo's running speed using mobile devices available in the venue.
The staircase leading from the first to the second floor features an installation depicting the trajectory of the Nike Ordem ball, used in England's Barclays Premier League, Spain's La Liga, and Italy's Serie A. The installation also introduces the history of the Mercurial series, from 1998 to the latest model. The second floor features an installation featuring four types of cleats—the Nike Hypervenom Phantom, Nike Tiempo Legend, Nike Magista Obra, and Nike Mercurial Superfly—developed to suit athletes with different playing styles, as well as national team jerseys from 10 countries. The national team jerseys of Brazil, France, England, the Netherlands, and Portugal feature Dri-FIT technology, allowing athletes to play comfortably even in harsh weather conditions. They also use recycled PET bottles as a material for environmental conservation. Additionally, each installation booth will host a quiz about the product's functionality and the athletes who wear it. Visitors can answer questions correctly using mobile devices available at the venue, and top scorers will receive a prize.
