Dec 31, 2016

"Young Artists' WA: The Power of Art," celebrating the New Year with works by approximately 70 young artists, will be held from January 3rd to 5th, 2017, at the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building, 7th floor, Event Hall.

"The Power of Art" is held every New Year. This fourth edition will feature over 500 two-dimensional and three-dimensional works by approximately 70 young artists in their 20s and 30s. During the exhibition, there will be a "Ema Corner" featuring works created by all participating artists, a "Skillful! NIPPON!!" corner selling "Japan-themed" works at an affordable flat price of ¥32,400, and artist-led events. This lively art exhibition will also feature opportunities to discuss the works directly.

From 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM on both January 3rd and 4th, 2017, "Tonini," who talks about art in an easy-to-understand and fun way, will interview visiting artists and delve deeper into the artists and their works. From 1pm to 5pm on January 3rd, visiting paper cutting artists Aya Uotani and Naoko Sakamoto, along with the paper cutting unit Pela, will be demonstrating paper cutting on the theme of the rooster, the zodiac sign for 2017. From 3pm to 5pm on the same day, felt artist Macha will also be creating felt chicks.

In addition, the event will feature a vote to support young artists. Visitors can vote for their favorite artists, and the top five will be able to participate in a group exhibition to be held at the Isetan Shinjuku Art Gallery in 2017.
