visvim celebrates its 15th anniversary with the "Archives" exhibition at Isetan

Apr 8, 2016

An exhibition themed around "ARCHIVES," a source of inspiration for visvim designer Hiroki Nakamura, is running until April 11th at the event hall on the 7th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. The exhibition space, organized around six keywords, showcases vintage items, old objects, and materials encountered by Hiroki Nakamura, the designer behind visvim, who is celebrating its 15th anniversary. The exhibition focuses on fibers, such as threads and natural fibers, which are the raw materials for all kinds of textiles. The exhibition introduces "Mayotae," a fabric brand made with hemp cloth, and a collaborative item, the Mayotae Coat (128,000 yen), is on sale. Other highlights include Amami Oshima mud dyeing, characterized by the unevenness and unique coloring unique to natural dyes, and indigo, characterized by its unique color fading, which is achieved through chemical dye manufacturing. Shoes are the core of Visvim, and on display and for sale will be the iconic Moccasin shoes that have been available since the brand's founding, as well as items made using the Japanese craftsmanship technique of Goodyear welt construction.

The venue will also feature a special cafe space from Little Cloud Coffee, located in the Visvim flagship store in Omotesando, where you can enjoy authentic drip coffee.
