"The Queen of Fabrics," a vivid portrayal of the turbulent life of Marimekko founder Armi Ratia, will be released nationwide, starting in May, at Human Trust Cinema Yurakucho, Shibuya, and other theaters.

Armi Ratia founded Marimekko in Finland shortly after the war in 1951 and quickly built it into a global brand. The film vividly portrays her powerful and turbulent life, not only designing fabric but also working to change people's lifestyles for a brighter future. She was a rare female entrepreneur at the time, and entered a male-dominated business world.

The film stars Minna Haapukula. The film is directed by Jörn Donner, an early Marimekko executive and the only Finnish person to win an Oscar as a producer on Bergman's "Fanny and Alexander." The film is the result of 50 years of passionate thinking by Jørn Donne, a living witness to Armi Ratia. Numerous beautiful designs appear throughout the film, allowing viewers to experience the cutting-edge yet graceful spirit of Marimekko, a brand that continues to be loved by people of all ages and genders around the world for its simple, timeless, and unisex designs.
