Marimekko will open a pop-up shop perfect for the Christmas season at Daikanyama T-Site Garden Gallery from December 2nd to 6th. The design of the pop-up shop was jointly created by the Finnish Marimekko design team and architect and interior designer Masatake Kato of PUDDLE. Inspired by the theme of the 2015 Autumn/Winter collection, "Mindscapes—Nature in the City," the space blends urban architecture with natural elements. Interior stylist Fumiko Sakuhara created a space that is a little different from traditional Marimekko shops. The store will feature a wide selection of items from the 2015 Winter season and popular staples. Limited-edition items will also be available. A special item exclusive to the pop-up shop is a pot cover made from fabric featuring the brand's iconic Unikko pattern, paired with greenery selected by Le Besbe, a flower shop in Aoyama, Tokyo, inspired by Unikko. Japan-exclusive items include a Unikko patterned mug accented with pink, the key color of the 2015 AW collection, and Japan-exclusive colors of fabric items featuring the popular Marais Loose and Vihkirus patterns. Customers who spend over 16,200 yen (tax included) at the pop-up shop will also receive a Japan-exclusive pencil case on a first-come, first-served basis. Le Besbe will also have a corner selling Christmas-themed greenery and flowers. Customers can also enjoy home-roasted single-origin coffee from Pretty Things, a coffee stand by Uichi Yamamoto in Komazawa, Tokyo, as well as traditional Finnish winter drinks.
