
Yuzik Asagaya, a movie theater in Tokyo's Suginami Ward, will be holding a Fantasy World special from April 23rd to May 6th to celebrate its first anniversary. During the event, morning screenings (starting at 11:00 AM) will feature Czech animations featuring adorable characters like Kurtel the mole and Amalka the fairy. Saturday will feature "Amalka and Krtek's Feast," Sunday will feature "The Very Popular! Amalka the Forest Fairy," Monday will feature "The World of Tyrlova's Handicrafts," Tuesday will feature "The World's Most Beautiful Paleček Animation," Wednesday will feature "Krtek's Little Adventure," Thursday will feature "The Krtek Story," and Friday will feature "Poyar's Cute Animation." Tickets are ¥1,300 for adults, ¥1,100 for seniors and students, ¥600 for elementary school students and younger, and ¥1,000 for members. A four-show ticket costs 3,600 yen.
In addition to the morning screenings, the theater will be re-screening some of the most popular fantasy films from its past screenings at Yuzik. The lineup includes "Shaun the Sheep," "Liza and the Fox," "The Wonderful Cinematic Magic of Méliès," "A Trip to the Moon," "Cookie," and "Fantastic Mr. Fox."
In addition, the theater will be hosting events such as workshops and talk shows. On April 23rd and 29th, Manabu Manabe of At Arms will host a talk show where you can hear behind-the-scenes stories about Czech animation. On April 24th, there will be a talk show by "Big Sister Amaruka," and on May 3rd, there will be a talk show by Annyu of Koala Mode. There will also be a workshop on making a soft Amaruka mascot on May 1st, from 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM.
