Five iPads displaying the website are lined up in the store's central display. A wall-mounted screen also displays the site's top-selling items. While the store carries five of the company's brands, including "LIP SERVICE," only a small selection of items will be on display. Customers will be shown the e-commerce website and offered suggestions tailored to their needs. Even if an item isn't available in-store, the store will encourage them to purchase it from the website. Real-time inventory information at participating stores also encourages customers to visit nearby stores. "Even if customers don't purchase it right away, we'll provide them with the item number. Previously, ordering a product required a lot of effort, such as ordering it and contacting them when it was in stock. We believe this system will save a lot of time," said an Orkes e-commerce division representative. There's also the possibility of creating original store items in the future. "There were concerns that the price range would be higher than in surrounding shops, but we thought that we could solve this by creating items that are original to this store. If it were a standalone store, there might be costs involved due to things like lot limits, but this shop is linked to an e-commerce site, so that's not an issue. Conversely, we could open a store in an area where there are many high-priced brands. There is also a track record that more expensive items sell better when it comes to e-commerce," he said.
