Model Twiggy was born on September 19, 1949, in London, England. While still a student, she was scouted by her future boyfriend, Justin de Villeneuve, and began her modeling career under his direction. She began appearing in various magazines at age 16, and her name, along with The Beatles and Mary Quant, became a representative figure of "Swinging London," the era of fashion and music at its most glamorous. She is credited with instigating the miniskirt trend and is known as the "Queen of the Mini." Her slender figure, 165 cm tall, earned her the nickname "Twiggy," and her popularity was fueled by her short hairstyle, which Justin suggested. When she visited Japan in 1967, approximately 150 members of the press and 1,000 fans flocked to Haneda Airport. During her stay, she appeared in Japanese commercials and television programs, and spent her free time sightseeing in Kyoto and Osaka.

In 1967, she released the single "Dreaming Twiggy" as a singer. In 1971, she retired from modeling and appeared in the film "The Boyfriend" as an actress, for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.

In her personal life, after breaking up with Justin, she married actor Michael Whitney in 1977 and had a daughter. Michael died suddenly in 1983, and she remarried actor Leigh Lawson in 1988.
