A new product from Shu Uemura's hit foundation. The secret to a great finish is the dome-shaped sponge.

Shu Uemura will release a new cream foundation from its "The Light Bulb" series, "The Light Bulb Oleo Pact Foundation" (SPF25/PA+++, ¥5,500), on August 22nd. The Light Bulb Filled Foundation & Sponge, introduced in 2013, was developed to meet the high coverage and natural glow many women crave. It surpassed its sales target within five days of its release, becoming a hit product with sales growth 1.5 times faster than initially expected. This new product combines the traditional coverage and glow of previous products while also achieving a long-lasting, fade-resistant finish. After extensive research, the company adopted a water-free formula to ensure fresh-applied color lasts for hours. With 0% water, it prevents moisture from evaporating from the skin, effectively maintaining its condition for extended periods. The ingredients are carefully selected to blend multiple oils, aiming to achieve a moisturizing, lightweight feel in addition to reducing dullness, providing coverage, and adding shine. A total of 16 colors are available. Also launching at the same time is "The Light Bulb Dome Sponge" (650 yen). This dome-shaped sponge, developed with the cooperation of skilled Japanese sponge craftsmen, was inspired by makeup artists' practice of holding sponges between their fingers. The rounded surface that touches the skin allows for controlled application of foundation, making it easy to achieve a thin, natural-looking gradation. Four new shades of the concealer "Cover Crayon" (3,000 yen) will also be released on the same day. According to International Chief Makeup Artist Yuji Asano, who demonstrated the product at the launch event, the mauve color creates a healthy, translucent look without appearing washed out, making it recommended for use as a highlighter on the bridge of the nose or under the brows. The pink color has the effect of smoothing out the reddish-brown shadows caused by the opening of pores in the floret grooves, while the apricot color is effective when used on areas with yellowish dullness.
