Massive Attack's artwork book, which has had a huge impact on street culture, is now on sale

Sep 25, 2013

An LP-sized hardcover book compiling the artwork of Bristol-based trip-hop band Massive Attack will be released on October 28th.

The book compiles all of the artwork created by Massive Attack member 3D (aka Robert del Naja), and contains 400 pages of plate art and illustrations, including some previously unpublished, from Massive Attack's days as The Wild Bunch, a band that had a profound impact on the graffiti and stencil art scenes.

The book also includes an interview with 3D, who discusses the evolution of the artwork and sleeve design, as well as his creative process and inspiration.

Publisher The Vinyl Factory (http://www.vfeditions.com/) is also accepting pre-orders for the limited edition of 350 copies, which includes a vinyl record containing unreleased material.

Massive Attack was formed in 1988 as a successor to The Wild Bunch, which was formed in 1982 by Nellee Hooper, who later joined Soul II Soul and has worked with Madonna and Bjork, DJ Milo, who has close ties with Hiroshi Fujiwara, and Daddy G. Their sound, characterized by heavy beats and a dark atmosphere, is known as the Bristol sound, named after their hometown, and has had a major influence not only on dance music but also on rock.
