What are the long-lasting tools and locally produced foods carefully selected by eight buyers from the Hanshin Umeda Main Store?

Event Date:2021.03.17-03.23
Mar 13, 2021
"Sustainable" is a keyword we hear often these days. This year's event will feature shops carefully selected by eight buyers from Hanshin Umeda Main Store, with an eye to the future, featuring items they would personally use and love for a long time, locally produced food, and support for local producers. ■Hanshin Umeda Main Store, 8th Floor Event Space ■March 17 (Wed) - 23 (Tue), 2021 (Open until 4:00 PM on the final day) https://www.hanshin-dept.jp/dept/e/kurashi/ The venue will also be decorated sustainably. We will create wooden signs that can be used even after the event, striving to reduce waste. Furthermore, the small garden created at the venue will not just be used for decorative purposes; after the event, we plan to transplant it to the H2O Retailing Group's Izumiya Kawachinagano store, where it will continue to live.

■The plants in the garden created at the venue will be transplanted after the event to continue their life!

Gardening group "Green Space"
We were deeply impressed with Green Space's activities and asked them to create the garden for this event.
As the theme was sustainability, they proposed that "rather than creating a garden that is suited to the exhibition, we put into practice a sustainable combination of plants through the actual gardening of Green Space," and this led to the garden for the venue being realized. After the event, the plants will be transplanted to the Izumiya Kawachinagano store of the H2O Retailing Group. A transplanting event is planned to be held with local residents.

■We have thoroughly reviewed our storefront decorations and the environment! We will reduce waste after the event and convey our message through 100 books

Signs will be reused
We were impressed by "manufacturing that is not easily thrown away" by Jouzu Kosakusho, so we asked them to make the signs to be used at the event out of natural cedar so that they could be reused for our next stall. It would be easy to just throw them away, but we are challenging ourselves to reduce waste even as much as possible after the event is over.

The keyword is “Seeding/planting seeds”
We have asked Kato Hirohisa of "Books+ Kotobanoie" to select 100 books that will convey the message of this event and serve as guideposts for what we should think about going forward, which will be introduced at the venue.
In this time of COVID-19, which has shattered our traditional values and forced us into new lifestyles, we aim to hold an event where we can plant new seeds for the future.

■Planned by young buyers from across the building! They negotiated for store openings while making use of their respective expertise and connections

Until now, one or two buyers in the same category have been in charge of planning, but this time eight buyers, mostly young people, from across the building negotiated for store openings with the theme of "sustainability." They have thought a lot about the future and used this opportunity to reach out to shops that they had their eye on.
