Starting October 1st, Estée Lauder will be holding the "Pink Ribbon Campaign," a month-long campaign to raise awareness for early breast cancer detection. This is a social contribution initiative that the Estée Lauder Group has been conducting since 1992. October is designated as a special month each year, and the campaign is carried out on a global scale. To date, $38 million has been raised, and the proceeds are being used for 152 breast cancer research projects around the world through the Breast Cancer Research Fund.
In Japan, eight Estée Lauder Group brands will be supporting the campaign during this period. Coinciding with the "Landmark Illumination," in which 200 major buildings around the world are illuminated in pink, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, Osaka Castle (Main Tower), and Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto will be lit up on October 1st (Kiyomizu-dera Temple will continue to light up until October 31st).
During the campaign, awareness cards will be distributed and support products will be released. A portion of the proceeds from the support products, which will be sold exclusively in the eight brands' stores (approximately 700 locations across Japan), will be donated to breast cancer organizations.
