Former Marimekko designer Fujio Ishimoto holds first solo exhibition in his hometown of Ehime

Fujio Ishimoto is a textile designer based in Finland. His traveling exhibition, "Fabric and Ceramics - Winter," held at Spiral last year, will be re-released at three venues in his hometown of Ehime Prefecture, titled "Playing with Fabric, Playing with Earth." The exhibition runs from September 26th to October 11th. This exhibition will feature floral ceramic reliefs and textiles, which Ishimoto describes as "a space filled with infinite possibilities," and will feature some of the works from "Fabric and Ceramics - Winter," as well as new ceramic pieces. In addition to the main venue, the Ehime Prefectural Museum of Art, the Fujio Ishimoto Exhibition Executive Committee, organized by local volunteers, will also exhibit at two other locations: Tobe Town Cultural Hall and Chabaru (Matsuyama City). Ishimoto was born in 1941. She moved to Finland in 1970 and worked for the fabric brand Marimekko for around 30 years, during which time she created around 300 different textile patterns.She currently works in the art department of the Finnish pottery manufacturer Arabia, where she creates ceramic works with motifs of imaginary flowers and natural landscapes.
