Sep 20, 2013

On November 15th, Parco Museum in Shibuya will host artist Asami Kiyokawa's first exhibition featuring men, "Danshi," running until December 9th.

The exhibition features black-and-white photographs of 30 prominent men from Japan and Asia, combined with Kiyokawa's unique embroidery to express masculine aesthetics and lifestyles. The "Danshi" series, Kiyokawa's first series of men's work, was serialized in the magazine "Glamorous" and features collaborations with prominent men of today, including TVXQ, Kaneko Nobuaki, Ayano Go, and Matsuzaka Tori. A book titled "Danshi" (2,940 yen), which includes new works from the series, and new merchandise created specifically for this exhibition will also be on sale.

Kiyokawa is an artist who creates unique works by embroidering photographs. In her "Beauty Collection" series, which she has been presenting since 2006, she has collected over 200 people in total, from actresses, artists, and musicians to popular anime and manga characters. She is also active in a wide range of fields as an art director, working on advertising, CD jackets, spatial and product design, and more. She will also be serving as the overall art director for the Christmas campaign being held at Parco stores nationwide from November 1st to December 25th.
