The FURLA Ginza store (4-5-1 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) has been completely renovated as a new concept store representing Asia, reopening on October 10th. The design of the store was inspired by the villa where FURLA's headquarters is located. The luxurious interior, based on beige and gold, features a large screen displaying advertising visuals by Mario Testino. The store also features a unique kinetic façade that changes appearance fluidly with the wind. The windows were designed by Emmanuel Moureau, a renowned Japanese architect and artist. The basement floor features the first men's space, showcasing all of the store's expanded men's items this fall, as well as a shoe section offering a wide variety of shoes, from pumps to sneakers. To commemorate the renovation, the store will be releasing Ginza-exclusive items of the popular iconic "METROPOLIS" bag. An opening event was held on the 8th, attended by Laura. Laura appeared on stage wearing Dalmatian-print shoes and a customized Metropolis bag draped with a scarf that was given away for three days only. A party celebrating the store's reopening on October 9th was also attended by many celebrities, including Crystal Kay, Marie, Haruna Kojima, Thelma Aoyama, and Maki Tamaru. Even after the store's opening on the 10th, the planned number of scarves given away for the first three days was sold out, proving to be a huge success. The store is part of Furla's dynamic global expansion strategy, which saw the opening of 39 new stores in Europe, Asia-Pacific, the United States, and Japan in the first half of the year. Recent openings include New York's Fifth Avenue, Tokyo's Ginza, Rome's Spanish Steps, and Hong Kong's Mira Mall. As a result, Furla achieved sales of 151.5 million euros (20.554 billion yen) in the first half of 2015, a 30% increase compared to the same period in 2014, marking the fourth consecutive year of high double-digit growth.
